I was looking through the new protocol for EHC(Emergency hormonal contraception) from the Torbay NHS Care Trust. I found something useful and worth sharing. It’s the list of Hepatic Enzyme Inducing Drugs, I’v always wanted to come up with a list myself, but I just havn’t got to it. This group of drugs accelerates metabolism and reduces the efficacy of many drugs especially drugs with a narrow therapeutic window i.e theophylline, it is also important to know that they do the same for contraceptive steroids. I think the 1st few on the list are the more common List of hepatic enzyme inducing drugs .
- Carbamazepine
- Griseofulvin
- Phenytoin
- Rifampicin
- St John’s Wort
- Barbiturates
- Modafinil
- Topiramate
- Primidone
- Tacrolimus
- Oxcarbazepine
- Ritonavir
- Rifabutin
- Bosentan
- Certain PPI
- Certain HIV drugs
For me, I try to remember the 5 that are highlighted in red, to make it easier, I came up with an acronym – C-GPRS, hope that was helpful!! Leave a comment to add any others to the list!

Hey, just came across your excellent website last night. Its funny, i was on the phone to my best mate from uni, and i asked him which past papers he has…and he goes he has all of them, and then i asked him if i could photocopy them coz i havnt got any of them…and he go n burst’s out saying, oh u sud have done it earlier, its gona take ages to photocopy! Basically a NO! So i thought to myself screw him…and i searched on the net…and luckly enought by chance i came across your website…and i breathed a sigh of relief…u had most of the papers! Phew!!
However…some of them have no answers…have u been able to get some by any chance? If you like, im also gona be sittin my exam this summer….only 5 weeks to go…and if u want to compare answers we can email each other? Just a thought.
But i just want to say thankyou so much, i never knew such nice people out there actually exist..maybe because ive been working in london so long…all expert business men/women. lol
I shall be attempting these papers very soon! Thank you!!!!!

hello it is my first post on this web and in the begining I would like to thank for the unique information, which I found in this and all previous topics , it really helped me very much. I will definitely add this website on my google reader
Also, I would like to ask – don’t you mind if I will quate some information from your website since I am writing articles for the Hub pages, Ezine and other articles directories (this is my part time job)? It would really help me with some of mine articles. Of course, I will mention your website title or URL (not all articles directories allows URL’s , so I can’t 100% promise that you will get a direct backlink to your website).
