Ban Meen @ Restaurant Citysun, Aman Suria

On my 2nd day back, I still wasn’t ready to drive yet eventhough my driving license was renewed. So, I got my sister to be my shauffer for the day. We had to go to the post office to pay the house bills and look for scanning software for our dad first before heading to Aman Suria for my favourite food – Ban Meen recommended by my younger sister.

According to her, the soup is really tasty. We ordered a dry ban meen and a soupy based ban meen to share.

So what’s the verdict?

I thought the soup was ok, no ‘wow’ factor for me, but it came with a generous amount of greens, and they also separate the anchovies so that it remains crispy, unlike some other ban meen elsewhere.

However, after the ban meen there, I think I’d still prefer the ban meen at Bangsar and Taman Tun.

Reunion dinner

My secondary school friend aka neighbour was kind enough to organize a reunion dinner for my homecoming. So yesterday we went for nyonya food – The Wok at Kota Damansara, recommended by another friend.

The food was tasty, but quite spicy for me. I think after living in England for 6 years, my taste buds have changed slightly, I’d prefer milder food.

Then after dinner we went over to a friend’s condo to chill. The pool area looked so lush and the lightings were great for camwhoring!! Guess that was what we did for the rest of the night, and of course not forgetting, lots of laughters and catching up!

It was a great night.

Shopping day

Today, after renewing my driving license and went to look for electronic cig for my uncle, my sister and I went to 1 utama to do some shopping! 1 utama is like my childhood hang out place, where I used to go every day after school, so it was really nostalgic and a nice feeling being back here.

It is great to shop in a mall where they have everything under one roof - food, fashion, gadgets, and cinema, unlike in England, there are limited shopping malls there, unless you go to London.

I was totally knackered when we got home at 10pm!! We shopped till closing time!! I so like the fact that shops here in Malaysia closes at 10pm instead of 5.30pm like in England.

It was nice to spend some time with my younger sister. We manage to get quite a few nice dresses and tops! I also got some beach wear for my trip to Sabah next week! It was indeed a very fulfilling day. I am glad I am not at work in Torquay! Haha.

Duty Free!

DSC08564

Yes, I took advantage of the duty free goods in Heathrow airport. I rarely buy anything from the airport, but this time my flight was delayed slightly, so I walked around and came across Long Champ! So without undue delay, I instantly picked a colour I liked, tried the different sizes on a few times, and there, this is now MINE! Muahaha.

It is so common that I have seen 3 already in Malaysia on my 2nd day back. One of them had the exact same colour as mine! Only thing hers was a smaller sized one. There were several colours I liked – Navy (too common as several friends of mine have it), White (not available, one of my friends has it), Orange (not available, another friend has it), and the rest of the colour did not interest me).

Oh and I havn’t mentioned red? I thought red looks sharp, and vibrant. At the moment, I don’t know any of my friends having a red long champ, so I opted for that.

It costs £50 without tax, if not you would have to pay £60+.

Few hours before flying home

Since we stayed in covent garden, I thought I could make use of the convenience of the market nearby, to grab us some breakfast before we left for the airport. I woke up early, showered and packed, then went out with an expectation of getting Brazilian churos that I have been craving so much and paella.

But when I arrived at the market place, the stalls were barely open. In fact, I couldn’t find any food stall ready to trade yet. So I went to get my sister’s xbox 360 controller, and my mother’s ipod shuffle first.

On the way back, I saw Starbucks! It saved us from hunger. I bought some sandwiches and we had that before we left the hotel. Like I told my friends on facebook, I am really glad that I won’t be having sandwiches, baguettes, panini’s or any form of bread in the next 3 weeks!

McDonalds for lunch

DSC08516

Uh, I can’t believe I had McDonalds for lunch. Ever since I came over to England, I have disliked McDonalds so much. If not for the convenience, I really wouldn’t have had McD for lunch today!

Well, I had a double cheese burger and a fries, I also ordered the mozzarella dippers. I was so disappointed with the fries they gave me, it was only half filled!! I didn’t realise until I got back to my work place. What a shame.

Do you like Mc Donalds?

Sambal sauce!!

If you are living abroad, I am sure one thing that you will definitely miss is SAMBAL!! Right??

I havn’t had sambal for ages, I only had the instant paste for cooking prawns only, and they are nothing like the real sambal! I think after this I will have to find out how to get rid of whiteheads and pimples ey!!

But recently I was fortunate enough to enjoy a big pot of sambal through a nice friend. I knew this takeaway friend since I have takeaways from there often, eversince then we became friends. And whenever there was nice Malaysian food, she would bring it over to my place! How thoughtful of her eh??

Check this sambal belacan?? It sure looks yummy right?? *drools*

American Idol 2011

casey-abrams_1

So this week, the results was a shocking one for both the contestants and the judges. Guess who has been voted out this week???

Casey Abrahams was not only in the bottom 3, but he also had the lowest number of votes! This great talent has a very unique style of his own, may not have many fans and supporters but the judges sure loved him very much, as they used up their one and only save card in this season to get him back in the running to become the next american idol.

So whether or not he stays in for longer, will depend on what he does on his next performance to win votes from the public. Lets wish him luck.

Yay, going home soon!

In 4 days time, Ill be at home in Malaysia! Woohoo. I can’t wait at all. The past few weeks I have been spending my day offs in Exeter and London to get all the stuff I need before heading home, as if I have not gone home for a long time. For some reason, so many people’s birthday falls in the month of March and April. I had a long list of gifts to shop for!! *scratches head*

I went into so many stores to look for the perfect gift for each of them, I even browse through online shops including bella bracelet, zara and top shop bags, swarovski etc to get inspiration. Well, I am glad to say I have bought most of the things on the list, and also got myself some nice treats from Zara, my current favourite shop!

Hope they will like the gifts I got them!

Korean Series – My Princess

It’s strange how I got back into watching korean series again. The last series that I was really crazy about was My Girl. Eversince that I stopped watching. Only until recently I came across My Princess on ppstream, and I fell in love with the main actor, Song Seung Hun, my ass was stuck on the couch till midnight for the last 1 week! Lol!! I used to like him in Autumn in my heart as the girls brother.

Check out the MV
