My Attempt at Ice Climbing

So when I was in Iceland, I had my first try of climbing on an ice wall! Boy it was harder than I thought. After that day, I needed a super power custom mattress to support my bodyache, resulting from the climbing! Lol.

The guide demonstrated how to climb the ice wall, safely. He did it effortlessly, so I thought, It can’t be that hard, especially when we were well equipped.

I let the european gals have their go first. They all seemed pretty good at it. Then my friend went, and he struggled! Oh my. I started to worry a little, but hey I was an athelete during school days, it shouldnt be too bad right. Then finally it was my turn, boy I struggled so much. It was a really exhausting task, you need to have strong arms, and right foot work. I tried so hard, and wasn’t going anywhere, the guide had to help pull me up ;)   having said that, I still made it to the top, and I don’t regret trying it! It was a great experience, altogether.

Iceland rules!

So of all the European holidays I have been to, Iceland is by far the best.

In Iceland, I manage to experience things for the 1st time, and it felt awesome! Iceland is very different from other cities I have been to – it is known as the land of ice and fire. Out of the city, all you see is ashes from the volcanic eruptions, or ice and glacier.

During this trip, I managed to climb my 1st ice wall, saw northern lights for the 1st time, ate minke whale for the 1st time, visited a glacier lagoon for the 1st time, saw geysir for the 1st time, and also experienced a geothermal spa in Iceland for the first time!! Yahhooo… Awesome feeling.

If anyone is thinking of going for a holiday that is out of the norm, Id suggest Iceland!!

Labrador Bay

My family and I discovered a nice little place to relax and it is only 10 minutes away from St marychurch Torquay after waited to buy loose diamonds in town today.

Labrador bay has a small parking space for you to park your car, you can either sit in to enjoy the scenery, and watch the sunset, or you can get down take a walk around, enjoying the scenic view of the sea, at the same time watch the beautiful cows there. Check out some of the pics we took.

A visit to Greenwich, London

Greenwich is such a beautiful little place, tucked away from central of London, it is still very crowded as tourist from all around the world comes here to stand on the meridian Greenwich, the longitude line where it is 0 degrees on the globe. I too have snapped a picture here finally!

The painted hall in Greenwich is also an amazing piece of art work, apparently it took over 100 years to complete the painting. The whole hall including the walls and ceilings are painted. Very nice eh?? Have you been to Greenwich??

My weekend getaway

I had such a great weekend. I went to London on Friday, met up a friend to have a Malaysian meal at Tuk Din Restaurant, then visited the world’s famous Camden market and Portobello market on Saturday, then went to the meridian Greenwich on Sunday before heading home.

On Saturday, I met up with some friends for tea at Hong Kong café, then for dinner, I met up with more friends, some primary school and some secondary school friends that I have not met for over 10 years! What a weekend!

Check full updates and other pictures on other 2 blogs, will be updated soon :)

Crazy busy trains

Due to the weather, the sales and the bank holidays, travelling by train is a nightmare. Most of the time the trains were delayed, if not delayed, then there will be too many people travelling home. I was in Exeter shopping during Boxing Day and the 2 bank holidays after that.

Trying to get my luggage, and bags on the train was challenging! I was so near to other passengers that I practically watched the whole episode of wrestling on someone else’s Ipad, how funny is that! We were breathing in each other’s breathe, it was that bad! They had to transfer some people to another train!! Crazy eh?

Home sweet home @ Bath

It feels so good to be back at Bath! I mean even for a day, it was worth the 2.5 hr journey. Bath is where I 1st arrived when I came to England; it is also where I did my degree. I feel I took Bath for granted because when I was there I didn’t appreciate it, but now that I have seen other parts of the country, Bath is indeed the most beautiful city in England. One of my friends came over to England not long ago, so we brought him to several tourist spots.

The Pulteney Bridge – this place brings back lots of memories, as we always got down at the bus stop right in front of this bridge, but I never took time to look at it properly. Now that I am back for leisure, I realised how beautiful it actually is!

The Crescent – never took any picture here in 4 years, I know I am hopeless! But at least now I have.

Etihad Airways

I’v always preferred Malaysian airlines, but due to the peak season, I had no choice but to go for a cheaper option. Etihad Airlines were one of the cheapest for the dates I wanted. The stop over country is at Abu Dhabi, 7 hours from London to Abu Dhabi , then 3 hours waiting time, another 7 hours back to Kuala Lumpur. Such a tiring journey, but well worth the money. It costs only £550, compared to £800 malaysian airlines.

I was a bit weary of the airline at 1st, but it turned out to be quite comfortable, and spacious. There were TV screens behind the seats on both the flights. The choices of movies are way better than some other airlines I have taken in the past, they had more variety of movies, especially the newer ones. I watched Leslie Wright, I thought the film was a good one, it was quite touching, so it got me attention from the beginning till the end. All in all , I think for the price, I would go for Etihad again in the future.

Malaysia Truly Asia – P6 – Genting Highlands

If you can’t stand the heat, and fancy a game in the casino, you can visit Genting Highlands, in Pahang, it is easily accessible from KL, taking a bus from KL central station, the duration is only 1 hour. Genting is informally known as the Las Vegas of Malaysia, it is the only legal landbased casino. Genting Highlands is a mountain peak within the Titiwangsa mountains on the border between the states of Pahang and Selangor.

The weather is cooling, temperature is at about 16-20 degrees all year round. There is a theme park for the kids, and a shopping mall at the peak of Genting, inside 1st World Hotel, this is the hotel with the highest number of rooms with over 6,000 rooms and was in the guiness world record in 2004, having said that, the rooms are very tiny, the shower can only fit one person, there are not much space between the bed and the walls, but it is fairly cheap. The bus will bring you half way up, then you need to get a cable car to get to the peak of Genting Highlands.

Frankly speaking there is nothing much to do here, unless you fancy a cool weather and casino, and the theme park. There are quite a few choices of hotels in Genting, and it is very easy to make bookings. It can be fully booked during peak times, so be sure you book in advance. Or you can just go for a day trip by bus.

I would say it is not worth visiting if you are only in Malaysia for a short stay- 2weeks. Genting Highlands is a famous weekend getaway for couples or group of friends to just chill and have a drink whilst catching up. The locals enjoy going to genting mainly due to the cooling weather, that we don’t get back in KL.
